Gulbarg Oct 16, 2012 : The Hyderabad-Solapur Falaknuma passenger express caught fire in Karnataka on Tuesday, leaving at least two people dead and seven others injured. The train caught fire at the Gulbarga railway station in North Karnataka.
Two coaches of the train were gutted in the fire. The fire was brought under control as the train was stationary when it caught fire. Some passengers were stuck inside the coaches that caught fire.
The cause of the fire was not yet clear and the railway officials were trying to find out the cause. More details of the accident are awaited.
The victims are yet to be identified as the bodies have been burnt beyond recognition, police said. The injured have been admitted to a hospital here where the condition of two was stated to be serious.
Some of the passengers were headed for Tuljapur in Maharashtra to attend the Bhavani festival which takes place during Navarathri, police said.
Superintendent of Police Praveen Madhukar Pawar and railway police officials and District Incharge Minister Revunaik Belmagi visited the station.
