Bengaluru, April 22, 2025: The DRDO pilot, who had alleged that he had been assaulted by a motorist on Monday, has now been booked for attempt to murder of that same motorist, police sources said.
Shiladitya Bose, a wing commander residing in the DRDO Phase 1 township in CV Raman Nagar, had, on Monday, recorded a video showing himself bleeding and claimed that he was attacked by a motorist. He stated that the incident occurred around 6.20 am near Byappanahalli, on Monday, when he was on his way to the bus stop to head to the Bengaluru Airport, to visit his father in Kolkata.
Following the release of the video, police registered a criminal case against the motorist, identified as Vikas Kumar. Police booked Kumar under various BNS sections related to criminal conspiracy, causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means, and assault or use of criminal force without grave provocation, among others. Kumar was subsequently arrested.
However, further investigation and scanning the CCTV footage from cameras in the vicinity of the incident revealed that Kumar had, in fact, been severely assaulted by Bose. Multiple CCTV clips showing Bose knocking Kumar down and repeatedly kicking him went viral.

Bose, in his initial video, had stated, “God gave me the power to retaliate.” But the investigation and CCTV footage later confirmed that he had been bluffing.
Bose also claimed he was shocked that local bystanders accused him of being in the wrong and verbally abused him. However, video evidence, scanned by the police, shows that those present were actually trying to de-escalate the situation.
D Devaraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East, confirmed that the people at the scene had only attempted to separate Bose and Kumar.
Now, based on a complaint filed by Kumar, the Byappanahalli police have registered an FIR against Bose under BNS sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 304 (snatching), 324 (mischief), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace).
