The encounter took place in the dense forests of the Kilam-Bargum area, located near the inter-district border of Kondagaon and Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh. The deceased have been identified as DVCM Haldar and ACM Rame, both key operatives of the East Bastar Division.

Acting on intelligence about Naxals movement in the region, a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Bastar Fighters launched an operation on April 15, leading to the encounter.

Both carried a combined bounty of Rs 13 lakh — Rs 8 lakh on DVCM Haldar and Rs 5 lakh on ACM Rame.

Search operations are underway to trace other Naxal elements in the area.

This comes three days after two Naxals were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Bijapur district, where weapons and ammunition along with the bodies of two Naxal cadres were recovered from the site during the operation.
