Bengaluru, Oct 12, 2022: Two people, a man and a woman, tried to immolate themselves to prevent a demolition drive from being carried out in Bengalurus KR Puram. But, when the couple were about to set themselves ablaze, police officials sprayed water and rescued them.
A demolition drive was being conducted by corporation officials in Bengalurus KR Puram on Wednesday, October 12. Sunil and Sona Singh, employees of a private firm, who were residing in the area tried to stop the JCB machine from demolishing a compound wall built near a stormwater drain.
They stood at the edge of the compound wall and stated they’d have to be pushed away for demolition. Further, they had brought cans filled with combustible liquid and threatened to set themselves on fire if the authorities demolished the wall.

Soon, the woman poured the liquid on the man and on herself. Police officials, who were standing behind the compound wall, swung into action and managed to separate the man from the woman before she could set them ablaze.
Immediately, officials standing around the area sprayed water on them to prevent any untoward incidents. They were moved away from the compound wall by the police officials.
According to sources, the duo claimed they had taken a loan and hence they didnt want the wall to be demolished. They further claimed that they didnt know there was a stormwater drain near the wall.
