New Delhi, Sep 20, 2023: Many scientific inventions often seem like miracles rather than reality. Scientists put in tremendous hard work behind such creations. Recently, a device was prepared by American scientists. This device is a microscopic camera, which is so small that it will not be easily visible even after keeping it on hand. Its size is like a grain of sand. It can capture HD-quality pictures. According to reports, the size of the camera is only half a millimetre and it is made of glass. You might be wondering what would be the use of such a small camera. Let us explain.
As per reports, researchers from Princeton University and the University of Washington have jointly created it and claim that it can capture images 5 lakh times larger. The biggest benefit of this camera is going to be in the medical field because it will be very easy for doctors to get a view of the body. These cameras will also be able to sense things around them. Scientist Ethan Tseng, who co-led the research, said in an interview that the camera has 1.6 million cylindrical posts. “It’s been a challenge to design and configure these little nano-structures to do what you want,” he added.
According to a news report, the device is known as OV6948. It has been made by US-based OmniVision Technologies. It has received the Guinness World Record for being ‘The Smallest Image Sensor Commercially Available’ with its size of 0.575mm x 0.575mm.
Even though the camera is small, it can capture wide-angle photos, and the quality will also be very good. Till now, in micro cameras, the edges of the pictures would get blurred and there would be problems with the colours, but this small camera will not have this problem. It will work best in natural light and will be able to give maximum-quality pictures even in laser light. It will have a 120-degree field of view, and the extended focus range will be from 3 mm to 30 mm. With this, 30 frames per second can be recorded.
