New Delhi, Jul 23, 2020: Economic uncertainty in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic has led to job losses across the globe. One such case has come to light from Rajasthan where an unemployed man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a Union Minister’s personal secretary to get a job.
Originally from Mundawar in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, Sandeep Chaudhary has been arrested by Delhi Police on the basis of a complaint by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). According to a report by the Deccan Chronicle, the ministry had alleged that Chaudhary contacted Haryana’s Labour Minister and Rajasthan’s Law Minister in search of a job and introduced himself as the private secretary to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Following his arrest, Chaudhary told police officials that he secured a SIM card using his girlfriend’s ID and used it to call the ministers hoping they would give him a job. A BA (Bachelor of Arts) and BEd (Bachelor of Education) recipient, 25-year-old Choudhary lost his job with Hero Honda in Dharuhera owing to the ongoing pandemic.
A similar case had come to light from the national capital earlier this month when Delhi Police nabbed a 27-year-old man for impersonating Amit Shah’s private secretary. The accused, Abhishek Dwivedi from Indore in Madhya Pradesh had reportedly contacted a staffer in Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s office. While claiming to be Amit Shah’s secretary, Dwivedi had sought the reinstatement of his friend, an official in the transport department.
