New Delhi, October 07, 2014: Candidates in Indian elections are required to declare their assets according to a Right-to-Information request filed in 2010 that eventually led Indian lawmakers to reveal their annual tax returns.
Now that the BJP-led government is in power, the Prime Minister’s Office has chosen to reveal the incomes and assets of its leaders on its website pmindia.gov.in.
Borrowing information from the same website, here are the bank balances and vehicles owned by some of Union Cabinet ministers, according to the list of assets declared by the Prime Minister’s Office on the above website.
This compilation does not include other movable and immovable assets, or that of spouse/wife/dependents. Ministers not mentioned in the above graphic are namely - Kalraj Mishra (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Minister), Maneka Gandhi (Women and Child Development), Ananthkumar (Chemicals and Fertiliser), Ravi Shankar Prasad (Communications and Information Technology), Ashok Gajapathy Raju (Civil Aviation), Anant Geete (Heavy Industries and Public Enterprise), Harsimrat Kaur Badal (Food Processing Industries), Narendra Singh Tomar (Mines, Steel, Labour and Employment), Jual Oram (Tribal Affairs), Radha Mohan Singh (Agriculture) and Thaawar Chand Gehlot (Social Justice and Empowerment).
