Ahmedabad, August 5, 2016: The Bharatiya Janata Party leadership on Friday named state party president Vijay Rupani as Gujarat’s new Chief Minister, while Nitin Patel will be the deputy chief minister.
Earlier, reports had said that Nitin Patel, the senior-most minister in the Anandiben Patel Cabinet, would take over as the Gujarat CM from her.
BJP president Amit Shah, who flew into Ahmedabad on Thursday morning, held a marathon meeting with national secretary (organisation) V Satish and general secretary in-charge of Gujarat affairs Dinesh Sharma at his residence.
Nitin Patel was holding the health portfolio and is the state government spokesperson.
