Hubbali, May 06, 2023: Former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, tore into the BJP in her first poll rally in Karnataka, and urged people to vote for the Congress in the May 10 Assembly election. She said neither Karnataka nor the country can progress without ending the atmosphere of BJP’s loot and hatred.
Campaigning for Jagadish Shettar, who dumped the BJP for the Congress over denial of an election ticket, in Hubballi, Sonia Gandhi said the BJP is threatening people and saying if it does not win in the state, it will not receive PM Modi’s blessings.
"The fate of leaders is determined by the people. To stop the loot of the BJP, please vote for Congress on May 10 and give us a majority," She said at a rally in the Assembly segment considered to be a BJP stronghold.

"Neither Karnataka nor India can progress without ending BJP’s loot and hatred," she added.
Reiterating Congress’s corruption charge against the BJP-led government, Sonia Gandhi said, "We have to free Karnataka of commission and corruption. Five years back, Congress did hard work in Karnataka. We are fulfilling all the promises made in Himachal Pradesh. I don’t want to repeat our promises in Karnataka, but I want to assure you all promises will be fulfilled by Congress. We will give our hearts out to work for you."
"They don’t answer your questions. They don’t even care about Parliament. They think everything is in their pocket," she said, ripping into the BJP.
In Hubballi, the fight between Jagadish Shettar and the BJP’s Mahesh Tenginkai has become a prestigious battle of sorts for the ruling BJP and the Congress, which are putting all their might behind their candidates.
AICC President M Mallikarjun Kharge, who hails from the state, and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been campaigning extensively in Karnataka, where the party is seeking to wrest power from the BJP.
