Watch Video: A shocking collapse of a female weightlifter

New Delhi: July 15, 2015: A Venezuelan weightlifter narrowly avoided a major injury after collapsing during a 53 kg clean and jerk at the Pan Am Games.

Twenty-year-old Genesis Rodriguez Gomez tried to lift the weight above her head but collapsed with the bar falling behind her.  Spectators were shocked as the athlete collapsed.

She then returned for another attempt in the 109kg category to claim the silver medal.

She was runner-up to Colombia’s Rusmeris Villar Barboza.
 
The competition was held in Oshawa, Ontario, near Toronto.
