Search operations, which entered its eight day today, have failed to locate the Coast Guard aircraft that took off from Chennai on Monday evening on a routine surveillance flight. It was last tracked 16 kilometres east off Chidambaram coast by radar in Trichy at 9:23 pm.

"The family is shattered... any kind of help which we could get from anybody, we are open to it," Ms Subash, who flew in to Chennai from Doha, told NDTV today, adding, "If we could get the intervention of the PM, then may be, they could expedite the search operation."

The couple, who have a 14-month-old son, had last spoken on the morning of June 8, the day the aircraft went missing. Ms Suresh said the duo interacted through Skype every evening. "That evening he didn’t come on Skype... I was confused... next minute, my father-in-law tells me that the flight went missing," she told NDTV.

Apart from the 29-year-old Deputy Commandant, the Dornier had on board Deputy Commandant Vidyasagar, who was flying the aircraft, and Deputy Commandant MK Soni.

Multiple government agencies are involved in operations to track the missing aircraft. A total of eight ships and aircraft of the Coast Guard and Navy are part of ongoing search operations.
