New Delhi,Nov 22: Media Sarkar journalist Anuranjhan Jha has rejected Aam Aadmi Party’s demand for the raw tapes of the sting operation carried out by him. He said he won’t give the tapes to AAP, but to the Election Commission directly.
"Who is AAP to give us a time? We will give any constitutional body the raw footage. We will give the raw footage to the Election Commission on Friday itself," Jha said.
"Journalists who want to see the raw footage, they can come and see the video in our office. Raw footage is not the footage for the public domain," he added.
The Delhi Election Commission has asked Jha to submit the full sting operation tape by 5 pm.This came as AAP demanded that the media house that conducted the operations provides the raw footage by 3 pm on Friday. The party had earlier given a deadline of 11 am, which it has now extended by another 4 hours.
AAP has said that if it does not get the tapes by 3 pm, it will assume that the sting operation video is doctored. "We have not heard from those who have done the sting operation. We through the media appeal to the media house to give us the raw tapes. We are giving them 4 more hours to hand over the raw tapes. If their intention is in the interest of the country, AAP would want to see the raw tapes. If the tapes are not given to us, then we would believe that the CDs are doctored," AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said.
He said AAP would not take any action till the raw footage is provided to them. However, he added that if any AAP member is found guilty, strict action will be taken. "Strict action will be taken against the member if he/she is found guilty and if this is a mischief then also strict legal action will be taken against the people behind it," Yadav said.
A sting operation showed top leaders including Shazia Ilmi ready to accept funds without proper background checks. Shazia Ilmi defended herself by saying, "The cut and paste job is my best defence and I have mentioned receipts. The credibility of the CD has to be talked about, but these are the dark forces that don’t allow good things. I think it is the handiwork of either of the big parties."
A sting operation released by journalist Anuranjan Jha showed some prominent faces of the AAP allegedly agreeing to accept cash for improper purposes. After the sting operation, there were more questions than answers. Anuranjan Jha said, "We are not saying that there is any criminality involved."
