New Delhi, April 18, 2022: India reported 2,183 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours on Monday. This is nearly twice the figure that was reported on Sunday, when 1,150 new infections were registered in 24 hours.
On Monday, India also recorded 214 deaths in 24 hours. Even though the number includes a backlog of 62 deaths from Kerala, this marks a sharp increase from the four Covid deaths that were reported in the country on Sunday.

With 1,985 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate at present is 98.76 per cent. Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 0.32 per cent and the daily positivity rate is 0.83 per cent. A total of 2,61,440 tests were conducted in the country in the last 24 hours.
There are 11,542 active cases in the country at present.
Meanwhile, India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 186.54 crore. Over 2.43 crore doses have been administered to individuals in the 12-14 years age group. Covid-19 vaccinations for children in the 12-14 age group began on March 16.
The national capital too has registered a sharp spike in cases in the last few days. On Sunday, Delhi reported 517 new Covid cases and the positivity rate stood at 4.21 per cent.
