Woman dies as husband attempts delivery procedure at home using YouTube tutorial

Krishnagiri, Aug 24, 2023: A 27-year-old woman in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri died during delivery due to severe blood loss while her husband attempted a natural birth at home, reportedly using a technique he learned on YouTube. The woman suffered blood loss after her husband failed to cut the umbilical cord properly.

 

The Medical Officer at the Primary Health Center (PHC), Rathika, filed a complaint with the police about the death of Loganayaki, a resident of Puliampatti near Pochampalli.

According to police sources, Loganayaki’s husband, Madhesh, proceeded with a home birth as she started experiencing labour pain. During the delivery, it was reported that the umbilical cord was not cut properly, resulting in severe blood loss. She was brought to the PHC in an unconscious state and was declared dead upon arrival.

Subsequently, the police filed a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
