Nelamangala, April 10, 2025: A married woman from Nelamangala has allegedly left her husband and 12-year-old son to marry a man she met just a week ago on Instagram. The incident shocked the local community and led to a police investigation.
The woman, Netravati, who lived in Raghavendra Nagar, Jakkasandra, with her husband Ramesh and their son for the past three years, is now at the center of a family dispute. Ramesh, a truck driver by profession, was away most of the time due to work, while Netravati took care of their son at home.
According to police sources, Netravati filed a complaint against Ramesh 15 days ago, accusing him of harassment. The Nelamangala Rural Police attempted to reconcile the couple, and they were reportedly back together after counseling.
However, within eight days of filing the complaint, Netravati married Santosh, a man she had befriended on Instagram. Ramesh claims he found out about the marriage through Instagram posts, leaving him shocked and emotionally distressed.
The issue has taken a more serious turn as the couple’s 12-year-old son is now missing. Relatives have alleged that Netravati has not revealed the child’s whereabouts and is refusing to allow any communication. “We just want to know where the boy is and ensure he is safe,” said Thayamma, a relative of the family.
When Netravati returned to her husband’s house with police and a lawyer to collect her belongings, neighbours confronted her angrily, accusing her of bringing shame to the locality.
Speaking to the media, Ramesh said, “We were happy despite our struggles. I tried to resolve the issue even after she filed a complaint. Now she has married someone else, and I’m heartbroken. She had mortgaged the land and taken a loan. I suspect she was targeted because of the land and property I own. She married a fraud, but in the end, I feel like I’ve been cheated.”
