The woman from west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh is a member of the club.

Roshanara Club general secretary Subhash Kakkar said Shivani and her husband Rishi Kapoor are both members of the club. The woman was returning home after swimming in the club when the accident took place in the parking area. “She herself rushed the injured child to a nearby hospital in her car, but the child was declared brought dead. His father works as a waiter in our club. The family lives in the club’s servants quarters located within the premises. It is an unfortunate incident. I feel horrible for the boy’s parents,” said Kakkar.

A police officer associated with the case said the first information report was registered on the complaint of the child Vivan’s mother Prema Kumari.

The mother, in her complaint to the police, said she was going to the Hanuman Temple built in the parking area of the club at the time of the incident. Her son was walking ,holding her hand.

“My son left my hand and started walking ahead of me. Suddenly, a speeding car driven by a woman hit him. My son came under the car’s left wheel. He suffered head injuries and started bleeding. I screamed for help. My neighbour Rahul reached and caught the woman. She offered to help me take my injured son to a hospital. We brought him to Bara Hindu Rao hospital but doctors declared him brought dead,” the child’s mother told police in her complaint.

Police said the woman told them that she was taking a right turn when the child suddenly came onto the road. “By the time the woman driver could stop her car, the child was hit and he came under the wheel,” said the officer, adding that the woman’s husband is a businessman.
