Etawah, Aug 08, 2018 : A woman and her three minor daughters were found murdered in Etawah, police said on Tuesday. All of them were apparently strangulated before the three girls were thrown off the fourth floor of the building.
The victims, Neha, 30, Tulsi, 7, Mohini, 4 and Kallo, 3, were living in the Kanshiram Colony in Civil Lines area.
Police sources haven’t ruled out the possibility of rape with the woman. “It would be clear only after the autopsy report is ready,” said the police.
Alok Singh, IG, Kanpur said some people had been taken into custody and were being interrogated.
“More than one person could be involved in the crime. We are questioning suspects and working on the available leads,” he said.
Neha’s husband Chotey Jatav, who is a painter, had left for work on Monday and had not returned.
Around 5.30 am, some locals noticed the bodies of three girls on the road with lot of blood around.
One of the girls, Tulsi, was breathing faintly. The police were informed and the girl was rushed to the nearest hospital where she died within 10 minutes of arrival.
The woman was also found dead when the police reached her house. The front door was not locked from inside, police said, adding that wheat flour and some utensils were scattered all over suggesting the victim had shown resistance.
SSP, Etawah, Ashok Tripathi said Jatav was questioned and later taken into custody.
Surprisingly, none of the neighbours heard or noticed anything unusual despite the quarters in the building being quite close to each other, said police.
“Certain leads indicate that the women and kids were murdered to take revenge,” said an investigator.
