Yeddyurappa meets BJP leaders again, party acts firm

Bangalore, July 30 : The second round of meeting between the outing Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and party observers in Bangalore on Saturday morning remained inconclusive in terms of finding a final solution to the ongoing bargaining or crisis within the BJP in Karnataka.

Yedyurappa met BJP leaders again on Saturday morning and sources told CNN-IBN the he reassured his party that he will step down on Sunday as promised earlier.

The party is also said to be consulting the RSS on this issue and is reassured that he will resign on Sunday after 1 pm.

Sources also said say Yeddyurappa will abide by what party president Nitin Gadkari says.

He made this announcement after the BJP high command told him he cannot hold the party to ransom, added sources. The party also told Yeddyurappa that they cannot accept his conditions for resignation.

Sources also said the BJP Legislature party is likely to meet and and elect new leader after Yeddyurappa officially submits resignation on Sunday.

Sources said the names of three candidates Ananth Kumar, Jagdish Shettar and Eshwarappa have been rejected as possible successors. Sources also added that State Rural Development Minister VS Acharya, State Law Minister Suresh Kumar and former state president Sadanand Gowda are now in the running for the Chief Minister’s job.

BJP party legislator BP Harish said, "We want Yedyurappa to nominate the leader. If the high command doesn’t agree with our conditions, we will discuss with Yedyurappa for further action."
