Bangalore, July 4, 2013: A youth surrendered before Bangalore Central Prisons officials at Parappana Agrahara here on Wednesday night after allegedly beheading his uncle at Annenahalli in Kolar district.
Shekhar, 25, is the accused. Angry that his uncle Govindappa, 38, was allegedly trying to have physical relationship with his mother, Shekhar severed his uncle’s head and travelled to Parappana Agrahara with the head and surrendered before the officers, the police said. Shekhar’s friend Santosh who allegedly helped him in this act is at large. A team has been formed to trace Santosh, the police said.
Background
Shekhar is a taxi driver and a resident of Boodigere Cross, Hoskote in Bangalore Rural. He was waiting for an opportunity to take revenge on his uncle Govindappa for allegedly forcing his mother to enter into a sexual relationship with him. On July 3, he went to Annenahalli with his friend Santosh after purchasing meat and liquor at Rojenahalli. Later, he spread out a lavish dinner for his uncle near a mango farm at Kondasandra Road.
Shekhar, Santosh and Govindappa started to drink. After some time, when Govindappa was completely drunk, Shekhar cut off his head with a machete. He packed the head in a plastic cover, placed it inside a carton and travelled with it to Hoskote in his car. From there, he got into another vehicle and reached Parappana Agrahara jail, the police said.
The jail officers informed the Kolar Rural police about the incident at 1.30 am.
Subsequently, Vemgal Station sub inspector K K Raghu and staff rushed to Parappana Agrahara jail and took the accused into their custody. He has been taken to Kolar and the police are interrogating him.
Around 9.30 pm on Wednesday, family members of Govindappa had lodged a complaint with the Kolar Rural police against Shekhar, accusing him of killing Govindappa, said police sources.
