“Tiger King” Ashok Raj of Kadabettu passes away

Udupi, Feb 02, 2024: Renowned Tiger dancer Ashok Raj of Kadabettu in Udupi, has passed away at a private hospital in Udupi on February 1, Thursday evening.
Ashok Raj was taken ill while giving performance at Bengaluru in the first week of October last year. Later he was shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru. Treatment had continued at a hospital in Udupi and later a hospital in Manipal.
Ashok Raj who had his own tiger team at Kadabettu in Udupi was famed as Tiger King. He was giving tiger dance performances along with his team since past 26 years during Ashtami and other occasions.
He had trained several tiger dancers and was a Guru to them. Ashok Raj’s team was selected for videographing tiger dance team for a BBC programme 25 years ago.
