Udupi, January 14, 2025: As many as 1,373 sportspersons will participate in the week-long Karnataka Kreeda Koota – 2025 (Karnataka State Games – 2025) to be held in Udupi district from January 17, according to K. Vidyakumari, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi.
Addressing presspersons in Udupi on Monday, she said that organised by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, the Karnataka Olympics Association, and the Udupi district administration the events scheduled are kayaking, canoeing, achery, cycling, wrestling, boxing, hockey, lawn tennis, table tennis, kabaddi, judo, and athletics.
Kayaking and canoeing will be conducted on the Swarna, Brahmavar, and archery will be held at MJC Ground in Manipal. Cycling will be held in Government High School, Uppoor. While hockey will be held on the premises of MAHE, Manipal, and lawn tennis and table tennis will be conducted at Marena Sports Complex in Manipal, she said.
Events such as volleyball, basketball, and swimming competitions will be held in Dakshina Kannada, the Deputy Commissioner said.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the events in Mangaluru on January 17 and the valedictory function will be held in Udupi on January 23, in which Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Home Minister G. Parameshwara will participate.
The district administration in association with MAHE, Manipal, will provide accommodation and food to the participants, she said.
The synthetic track that was laid at the Mahatma Gandhi District stadium at Ajjarakad in Udupi in 2013 had degenerated as its durability period of 10 years ended in 2023. Hence the track is being repaired now and it will be ready for the events, the Deputy Commissioner said.

Meanwhile, in Mangaluru the events will be held at Mangala stadium, U.B. Mallya indoor stadium, Yemmekere swimming pool, Ambedkar Bhavan, Nehru Maidan, the auditorium of the Karnataka State Government Workers’ Association, and Marena Indoor Sports Complex.
