2 arrested for illegal sand extraction on Phalguni river bank

Mangaluru, February 28, 2025: Police have arrested two men on the charges of illegal sand extraction on the banks of Phalguni river at Manjalpade in Kavoor police station limits.
Those arrested are Lara D’Souza (28) and Thiyadore D’Souza (56). Police raided the place following a tip off. There were two lorries loaded with sand. One of the drivers managed to escape in the vehicle. Those engaged in sand extraction too fled on seeing the police. However, the cops managed to apprehend two of them.
The lorry laden with sand has been seized. Kavoor police have registered a case.
