In his benedictory speech, Lakshminarayana Asranna said that modernity has destroyed the status of art and culture and urged people to be as devoted to art and culture as they are to god. Speaking in opposition of holding programmes only to gather huge audiences, he said that programmes should be organized to change public opinion and make art and culture more attractive to people. An organization should never feel sad that its programme has not attracted a huge audience, instead the organization should rejoice that it has provided a common platform for the interaction of interested and like-minded individuals, he said.

Dr. Sunil Kothari, the eminent historian and art critic, presided over the programme. He said in his key-note address that artistes and dance lovers must work hard till they reach their goals.

Raghunath Shet, the guest of honour, said that bharathnatyam is considered to be the mother of all dance forms and urged organizations to work hard to preserve this great form of dance. Guru Jayalakshmi Alva presided over the event, which commenced with an inaugural dance by the students of Sarasa College of Fine Arts.

Guru Lalitha Srinivasan welcomed the gathering; and  Poornima Gururaj, the secretary of KNKP, compered the programme.

Dr Arathi Shetty, the director of Shree Devi Nrithya Kendra; Jayalaxmi Alva; Pradeep Kumar Kalkura; and Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, were also present.
