Mangalore, Jan 31: Tension prevails in Ullal after two mosques and an orphanage were attacked by unidentified assailants at Kumpala in Ullal police station in the early hours of Sunday. A 14 year old boy who was in the Yateemkhana of one of the mosques was injured in the stoning.
Reports indicated that the Noorani Jumma Masjid and the Noor-ul-Ilsam Jumma Masjid were targeted by the miscreants. According to a complaint lodged by the President of Noorani Masjid, a group of youth had entered the mosque located on the Highway in the early hours of Sunday and pelted stones damaging window panes.
Senior police officials including SP Subrahmanyeshwara Rao visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Security in the area has been stepped up by deploying additional police forces.
