Mangaluru, April 22, 2025: The 22nd quinquennial and 432nd annual Uroos of Seyyid Muhammad Shareeful Madani Dargah, popularly known as the ’Ajmer of South India’, will be held from April 24 to May 18 in the Dargah premises, under the leadership of Qazi Sultan Ulama Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar.

As a part of the Uroos, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation for Seyyid Madani Grand Masjid at Dargah premises on May 16. The masjid will be the biggest masjid in Karnataka once it is completed, said Dargah Committee President Haneef Haji.

He said that the present masjid is 75 years old and often faces a shortage of space for offering prayers. The grand masjid can accommodate 10,000 people at a time for offering prayers. The masjid will be built in ancient Indian style and architects from Kerala and Karnataka are working on the design for the same. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 25 crore and will be completed in two to three years.

The Uroos event, under the leadership of AP Aboobacker Musliyar, will be inaugurated by Sayyidul Ulama Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal. Sayyid Hamid Imbichikoya Thangal will offer prayers (du’a). From April 25 to May 14, religious discourses will be conducted by prominent scholars such as Kuntambara Abdul Rahiman Darimi, Abdul Rasheed Zaini, Abdul Wasih Bakhavi, Moyyaddin Kamil Sakhafi, Hussain Sakhafi, and Abdul Aziz Darimi of Chokkabettu, among others.

About 20 to 25 lakh devotees from across the country are expected to take part in the 25- day-long-Uroos. About 50,000 to 70,000 devotees will attend uroos daily. Around 5,00,000 devotees are expected to attend the ’Annadanam’ which will be held for 24 hours on May 18, he said.

Haneef Haji said that on May 15, the Al Kenaf Old Students’ Summit will be held, followed by a certificate distribution convention at 2 pm.

Other programmes during the Uroos are Da’wa College Conference (April 17), Memorial for Tajul Ulama and Qurat Thangal (May 2), Sayyid Madani National Conference and honouring of achievers (May 3), Madani Sangama (May 4), Shariah College Event (May 6), convention (May 8), Madani Mawlid Recitation (May 9), Seyyid Madani Hifzul Quran Students’ Programme (May 12), Gulf Meet (May 13) and sandal procession from all 28 mohallas in Ullal (May 17).

Haneef Haji said that the Dargah authorities have appealed to the KSRTC to deploy additional buses to Ullal to facilitate the devotees visiting Dargah. Further, officials from NHAI have promised to complete the ongoing repair work on Nethravathi old bridge on NH 66 at the earliest.
