Mangalore, Nov 4: Mangalore North police nabbed 9 people who were involved in moral policing on the premised of Government First Grade College on Car Street on Nov 4, Wednesday. The 9 have been arrested on grounds of attacking a student for allegedly having a relationship with a student of another religion.
Prof Radhakrishna, the principal of Government First Grade College, called the police when he observed a crowd and suspicious activities in the campus. However, by the time the police arrived, the group had already assaulted abused, and threatened A R Suhail (20), a student of the college, because of his friendship with a Hindu girl who is studying in the same college.
Amith Singh, the assistant superintendent of the police, said that the police were able to act promptly owing to the fact that the principal had wasted no time in calling them.
The culprits have been booked for wrongful restraint, rioting, voluntarily causing pain, and intentional insult with the purpose of causing breach of peace, provocation, and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code.
