Former MP Pratap Simha spoke, stating that it was the Congress that altered the constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He noted that fifty years ago, it was Indira Gandhi who undermined the constitution through the imposition of emergency and amendments. He asserted that no one else could subvert the constitution as the Congress did. He affirmed the BJP’s commitment to providing pensions in the future to those who fought against the emergency.

Sakaleshpur MLA Cement Manju remarked that the day the emergency was imposed in the country is a dark day in India’s history, marking the assassination of democracy. He stated that Indira Gandhi, who had won the election illegally, used the government machinery to fight against the judiciary.

The event was presided over by Mahabala Kottari, president of the Dakshina Kannada District Kottari Social Reform Association. MLA Vedavyas Kamath, BJP district president Satish Kumpala, and others were also present.

The program was hosted by Mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur, with Rakesh Rai Kadenji presenting the event.
