A model life commands respect in society : N Vinay Hegde

Kaup, Oct 21, 2016 :  It is only when we live our lives and   pursue our professions with dedication, patience and enthusiasm    that the society recognises  us. A model life commands respect in the society, said N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University.

He was  presiding  over a function organised at the Dandatheertha Pre-University College premises on October 20, Thursday to confer a hometown felicitation to  Dr K Prabhaker Shetty, senior physician of Kaup and Correspondent of Dandatheertha Group of institutions on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

Lauding Dr Shetty for his contributions to social, religious, education and medical fields, he said it was owing  to his  selfless service that  Shetty  earned a place of respect in the society.

Dr. M Shantharam Shetty, Chancellor of Nitte University and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, also spoke as chief guests.

Responding to the felicitation  conferred on him, Dr Shetty  said he chose the medical profession to serve the people of his hometown and thanked everyone for felicitating him.

Dr Prabhaker Shetty’s better half Shobha P Shetty, former MLA Lalaji Mendon and many other digitnitaries graced the occasion.

In connection with the 75th birthday of Dr Shetty, a  Mahindra pick-up vehicle worth Rs 7.50 lakhs was donated to the TMC of Kaup to assist in the "Namma Kaup-Swachcha Kaup" Scheme. The keys of the vehicle were handed over to  TMC Chief Sowmya S and Chief Officer Rayappa. A souvenir was also released on the occasion.

A portrait of Dr Shetty sketched by artist Sayyed Ali was handed over to  him on the occasion.
