Mangalore, Jan 23: “We are not against globalization, but want some attention towards the adverse impact of Westernization on indigenous culture,” said Ashwini Paranjape, National Secretary of ABVP.
Delivering the inaugural address of ‘Maardhani’ a student awareness conference organized by the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat at Town Hall in Mangalore on Saturday, she said there was a need to create awareness among women in order to build a strong nation.
Expressing concern over increasing cases of infant mortality in India, she however said it was not a big problem that is uncontrollable.
Dr Ashajyothi Rai, presided over the function. Mamatha, children’s rights activist of Bangalore presented a paper on “Role of Women in Societal Changes.” Manorama, Lecturer in SDM College, Ujire, spoke on “Role of Women in Political Changes,” while Akshatha, a student of Women’s Polytechnic, Mangalore gave a talk on “Role of Women in Changing Education.”
