Adani group takes over management of Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru, November 1, 2020: The Adani Group has taken over the operation and management of the Mangaluru International Airport, according Airports Authority of India (AAI).

A MoU to this effect was signed on Oct 22 by the Aviation Ministry with the Adani Mangaluru International Airport Ltd for provision of various services.

It was a State-run Airport operated by the AAI and now according to the ambitious project of the union government of privatizing the international airport in the city, the management of the airport was taken over by the Adani group of companies.

The top level officials of Adani group arrived at MIA on Saturday, there was pooja before the handing over the airport management. However, only few people was taken part in the programme in the wake of the pandemic.

Mangaluru is one of the six state-run airports that have been awarded to Adani group after the bidding process under the first phase of airport privatization.

“As part of development, maintenance of #AAI airports under PPP mode, @aaimlrairport will be handed over to @AdaniOnline from midnight today. While senior AAI officials will assist Adani Group for next 3 months, AAI employees, support staff will remain with the group for 3 years,” stated a tweet by AAI from its handle @AAI_Official at 9.09pm on Friday.
