Mangaluru, January 8, 2025: Air India Express (AIE) has deferred its proposed Mangaluru-Singapore flight schedule owing to “operational reasons”, according to a statement by Mangaluru International Airport.
The AIE will start an additional daily flight from Mangaluru to Mumbai on February 15 and a new daily flight from Mangaluru to Delhi on February 1, it said. It commenced its weekly flight service (on Saturdays) to Pune on January 4.
Earlier on December 11, 2024, Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MP, posted on X that Mangaluru will have its first non-West Asia international flight when AIE introduces a twice-a-week flight between Mangaluru International Airport and Changi Airport in Singapore on January 21.
Capt. Chowta said there were multiple requests for better air connectivity between Mangaluru and Singapore, following which, he wrote to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on September 20 to facilitate the same. In his September 20 letter, the MP had told the Minister that a direct flight between Mangaluru and Singapore was bound to enhance connectivity, foster economic growth, convenience and cultural exchange between southern India’s coastal region and the East Asian countries.
