Mangalore, April 24, 2012 : At an interactive meet with representatives of customs, airport, travel agents and air cargo exporters and importers held at KCCI meeting hall on April 23, Tuesday, it was informed that theInternational Air Cargo Complex opened at Mangalore Airport on March 18 will be operational from May 1 onwards.
The meet was organized to enlighten the public so that the air cargo terminal at the airport is put to maximum use.
V Shreenivas Phani, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore highlighted the process of exporting cargo JT Radhakrishna, Director of Mangalore International Airport, said there has been a has been a 20 percent growth in passenger traffic at the Airport.
The Airport has so far handled 10.3 lakh passengers so far and has earned a gross revenue of Rs 50 crore. Air India Mangalore Station Manager Melwin D’Silva said the airport will become truly international with the commencement of the air cargo complex.
