Airports proposed at Byndoor, Karwar under UDAN: Jagadish Shettar

Mangaluru, March 21, 2021: State Minister for Medium and Heavy Industries Jagadish Shettar has said that  there were plans to open airports in Byndoor and Karwar under the UDAN Scheme of the Central Government and that the land acquisition process for the same would begin soon.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Karnataka Coastline Business Conclave organised by  FICCI at TMA Pai Convention Hall in Mangaluru on March 21, Sunday. The Minister also pointed out that airports  have also been developed in Hubballi and Belagavi under the UDAN scheme and  added that every day 15 to 20 flights operate from here.

The Minister further said that industrial development would get a boost if  land acquisition process is also expedited. He also stated that the state has received industrial investment proposals  worth Rs 1.60 lakh crores and added that this was the highest in the state.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who was present as a chief guest said Karnataka tops the state in entrepreneurship development.  He also stated that the district had ample potential for religious tourism,  medical tourism and hotel-resort tourism.

FICCI Karnataka Chapter President Ullas Kamath said  Karnataka contributes significantly to the nation’s economy and added that the state stood second in GST collection. He also lauded the contribution of coastal Karnataka to the overall development of the state.

NMPT Chairman A V Ramana, MRPL Managing Director M Venkatesh, Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta  and others spoke on the occasion.

NMPT,MRPL, Nitte Deemed to be University, Hangyo Ice Cream firms  were among the several firms honoured for their contribution to the development of trade and industries in the coast.
