Ajekar murder case: Accused Dilip had procured poison from private lab in Udupi

Karkala, October 29, 2024: Investigations have revealed that Dilip Hegde, one of the accused in the Ajekar resident Balakrishna Poojary murder case, had procured poison to be administered to Poojary, in June itself. He had reportedly handed over the poison to Poojary’s wife Prathima with whom he was having an affair.

The poison was procured from a private lab in rural Udupi by Hegde by posing as a medical student and stating that he needed it for lab use. The poison which he procured was Arsenic Trioxide. This revelation revealed that the accused duo were hatching a ploy to eliminate Poojary since the past five months.

The police who are investigating the case, have questioned the lab owner who has confirmed that Dilip had secured the poison from the lab.


The accused Dilip who studied in Mumbai was a B.Com graduate and had returned to Karkala a few years ago to look after family business. It is learnt, he had few social connections but had reportedly made an extensive search on the web for poisonous substances.
