Mangaluru, Jan 9, 2017 : Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the 23rd edition of Alva’s Virasat, a national cultural extravaganza to be held at Moodabidri from January 13 to 15.
Informing this to reporters here on January 9, Monday, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, said the inaugural ceremony will be presided over by Dr N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University,
Dr Alva informed that the Alva’s Virasat 2017 Award will be conferred on eminent classical dancer V P Dhananjayan during the Virasat which will be held at the Smt. Vanajakshi K Sripathi Bhat open auditorium.
Dhananjayan who hails from Payyanur in Kannur district of Kerala is also the founder of a dance school called "Bharatha Kalanjali" along with his wife Shantha. He has won several awards including the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award.
A host of cultural programmes will be presented by famed artistes and troupes during the three-day event.
Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy, PRO of Alva’s Foundation was also present.
