Ancient stone edict of Alupa dynasty found in Adyar

Mangaluru, Feb 03, 2021:    An  ancient stone  edict believed to be  of the times of the Alupa dynasty  has been  found at a place called Somanathana Katte in Adyar village of Mangaluru taluk.

A few local youth who noticed the edifice  informed about the same following which Shrutesh Acharya Moodubelle helped in reading the edifice. Even social worker Ganesh Raj Saralebettu helped in this task. The edifice was initially completely buried in soil but has now been brought out.

A total of 19 lines of writing  in  are  seen in this edifice which is four feet tall and  two feet wide. The writings are in Kannada  script.

The third Kulashekhara has been described as  Sri Matpyandya Chakravarthiraya Gajankusha Veera Kulashekhara" in this edifice.

The word Adiyara is also mentioned and there is a possibility that it refers to the present day Adyar.
