Mangalore, June 26, 2012: Addressing reporters after visiting Holy Hill today, Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly, said that the attack of June 24, Sunday on Holy Hill was planned well in advance. He added that strict action will be taken against the miscreants.

Further, he said that he has discussed the issue with Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, urging him to investigate the issue thoroughly. He added that he will not tolerate attacks on holy places in his constituency.

Janardhan Poojary, senior Congress leader, who visited Holy Hill, said that the Sangh Parivar is responsible for it, adding that the attack was planned well in advance. He accused pro-Hindu outfits of disrupting the peace of the region, adding that the attack is a stain on democracy and is deliberately aimed to causing communal unrest in the region. He urged police department to nab the culprits at the earliest possible.

He also requested Mayor Gulzar Banu to help convert Holy Hill, a calm and peaceful place, into a pilgrim centre.

MCC opposition leader Deepak Poojary and corporators Nagendra Kumar and Naveen D’Souza were also present.

Denis D’Silva, president of the International Federation of Karnataka Christians Association (IFKCA) urged those concerned to take proper legal action against the culprits and provide protection to churches and other holy places.
