Attack on woman, friends at restaurant : Three youth arrested

Mangaluru, Feb 01, 2021:     Police have arrested three youngsters  on the charges of  going on rampage at a bar and restaurant at Bendorewell  in their bid to target a young woman who was celebrating her birthday there along with her friends on January 30, Saturday. It may be recalled here that the CCTV footage of the incident had gone viral.

The arrested  three are Santosh Poojary (19) from Kodikal, Trishool Salian (19)  and Dyanish Arun D’Cruz (18) from Dambel, Ashoknagar. Of the three, Trishool is a rowdy sheeter and has cases in Urwa, Bunder police stations.

The information was provided by  City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar to reporters here on February 1, Monday.

The Commissioner informed that the accused had tried to molest the young woman in the restaurant and  resorted  to attack with  lethal weapons when they were prevented.

The Commissioner further said the  18 year old victim  who is pursuing her PUC was staying with her grandparents as her parents live in Canada. He further stated that the girl and Trishool had  been in touch through social  media and  Trishool had even presented her a gift after meeting her  near Bunts Hostel. But the girl had returned his gift and had also asked him not to trouble, the Commissioner added.

Following this Trishool and the two others entered the restaurant and tried to attack the girl and in the process injured one of her friends.
