Attempted robbery at Muthoot Finance in Deralakatte foiled; Two arrested

Mangaluru, March 30, 2025: An attempted robbery at Muthoot Finance, located at Deralakatte Junction under the Konaje Police Station limits, was foiled late Saturday night. The thieves triggered the security alarm while trying to break the lock, alerting the police, who rushed to the scene and arrested two suspects.

Three criminals from Kerala targeted Muthoot Finance, which operates on the upper floor of a commercial building belonging to H.M. Timbers at Deralakatte Junction. As they attempted to break the lock, the alarm went off, immediately notifying the control room of Muthoot Finance. The higher officials of the finance company quickly informed the police.

Hearing the alarm, local residents gathered around the premises, and two of the accused—Murali from Kanhangad and Harshad from Kasaragod—became trapped inside the building. Upon arrival, the Konaje police apprehended them and seized the drill machine they had brought for the crime. However, a third suspect, Abdul Latif from Kasaragod, managed to escape.

The presence of advanced security equipment at Muthoot Finance played a crucial role in preventing the robbery. ACP Dhanya Nayak and a team led by Konaje Inspector Rajendra visited the crime scene and have initiated an investigation.
