BJP is spending money on purchasing votes, alleges Parameshwar

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 26: G. Parameshwar, the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), said that the BJP is now attempting to overcome the people’s power with financial power. He was addressing reporters at the district office of the Congress on Sunday. Further explaining his statement, he said that unlimited money is flowing across the state now that the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat polls are just round the corner and that the BJP is now using the money it has stolen from the people during its 2-and-a-half-year regime to purchase votes.

Parameshwar, who is travelling all over coastal Karnataka as part of his election campaign, accused BJP officials of using government vehicles and ambulances to transport huge amounts of cash. He added that the BJP has already spent large sums of money in the 12 districts in which the first phase of the elections have already begun.

Besides its illegal activities of purchasing votes, the BJP has also put into practice an undemocratic method called “operation withdrawal,” he alleged. The party is paying huge sums of money to JD (S) and Congress activists to withdraw their nominations and thereby ensure the BJPs success, he said.

He also expressed his confidence that the Congress party will gain power in the state by exposing the BJP’s illegal, undemocratic, and unconstitutional actions.

Recalling the CM’s controversial statements that the ZP and TP election results cannot be considered as referendum and his announcement of his intention to enter national politics, Mr. Parameshwara said that even the CM is sure that the BJP cannot alter the election results magically although it is spending a lot of money.
