Bantwal: Driver dies; 3 children injured in autorickshaw mishap

Bantwal, February 15, 2025: A tragic accident occurred in Ammunje on Friday midnight when an auto-rickshaw lost control and fell into a roadside drain, resulting in the driver’s death on the spot. Three children traveling in the auto sustained injuries.
The accident took place in Ganemar, a village in Ammunje, Bantwal Taluk. The deceased driver has been identified as Mahabala Poojari (37), an unmarried resident of Ammunje. The injured children, identified as Tushar, Bhavit, and Pradeep, are his relatives.
The mishap happened about 500 meters from their home while they were returning from a temple fair in Mijar, Moodbidri.
The auto-rickshaw overturned and fell into the drain after the driver lost control. Fortunately, the children sustained only minor injuries.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Traffic Police Station.
