Mangaluru, Jan 14, 2024: Bantwal MLA U Rajesh Naik sustained injuries in a car accident while crossing the road near Gopala Krishna Temple, Tenka Yedapadav on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 1:30 pm as Rajesh Naik was crossing the road on foot after attending a function near Gopal Krishna Temple, Tenka Yadapadavu, according to the police.
A Swift car, traveling from Moodbidri towards Mangaluru, struck the MLA, and the car left the scene without stopping, as per the police report.
The 112 Hoysala police team intercepted the car at Gurupura Junction and brought it to the police station. MLA Rajesh Naik suffered injuries to both knees and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Based on an eyewitness’s complaint, an FIR has been filed at the Bajpe Police station under sections 279, 337 IPC, 134(a)(b) against the driver of the car.
