Bantwal youth passes away in South Africa; final rites held in native village

Bantwal, April 15, 2025: A young man from Bantwal, who had gone to South Africa for employment, passed away unexpectedly there. His mortal remains were brought back to his hometown today (Tuesday), and the final rites were performed.


Youth dies


The deceased has been identified as Rajath (25), son of Ravi Sapalya, a resident of Narikombu village. Rajath had been working in South Africa for the past few years and reportedly passed away unexpectedly on April 5.

According to family sources, Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta and Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippady coordinated with officials from the Ministry of External Affairs to help bring the body back home.
