Beltangady: Gold chain snatched from a woman by duo in Ujire; case registered

Beltangady, April 12, 2025: A gold chain snatching incident occurred at Odala near Ujire, where two youths on a bike stole a gold chain from a woman walking along the roadside.
The victim, Rathna (55), a local resident, was walking home after finishing work near the Vyaghra Chamundi Gate in Ujire’s Odala area around 6:30 AM on April 10. At that time, two unidentified men approached her on a bike, stopped near her, and forcibly snatched the gold chain from her neck before fleeing the scene. The woman reported to the police that she sustained injuries to her neck during the snatching.
The stolen chain weighed 33 grams and is estimated to be worth around ₹1.5 lakhs.
The incident has caused concern among local residents. Beltangady police have registered a case and are investigating.
