Belthangady, December 21, 2024: A lady lecturer who was critically injured in a horrific road mishap 14 years ago and remained crippled while battling between life and death, has passed away at her residence at Ubaradka in Kaliya village.
The deceased is Bharathi (41), daughter of late Kurmbila and Lakshmi. She was serving as a guest lecturer at the Melanthabettu Pre-University College. The accident occurred on July 30, 2010 when Bharathi along with her colleague Jayamala was returning home in an autorickshaw. It was raining heavily and a pick-up vehicle had rammed into their autorickshaw near the Santhekatte Ayyappa Mandir. If Jayamala died on the spot, Bharathi who was critically injured was rushed to the hospital.
After the mishap, Bharathi remained crippled below her waist and was literally bed-ridden. Despite her health condition, she was in touch with the college students and used to help them in studies.
Bharathi is survived by her mother, two brothers and four sisters.
