Belthangady, February 10, 2025: Fraudsters allegedly hacked gmail account and a payment app of a bank manager from Belthangady and fraudulently withdrew ₹2.19 lakh from different accounts.
In the compliant registered at Dakshina Kannada Cyber Economic and Narcotic Crime Station, the victim, the manager of Federal Bank, said she received a text message on February 7 on her mobile phone that had link interviewshine.co.in. Soon after pressing the link, her gmail and Amazon payment app got hacked.
An amount of ₹30,000 and ₹42,000 got deducted from her One Card Federal account, ₹48,000 from ICICI Amazon card, ₹49,500 from her Federal Bank Credit Card and ₹50,000 from her SBI Credit card. Immediately she called national cyber portal 1930 to register her complaint.
The CEN Police registered her complaint for offences punishable under Section 66 (D) of Information Technology Act and Sections 318(2) and 318(4) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act.
