Belthangady, February 15, 2025: Wild elephants have uprooted a tree alongside the National Highway near Boliyaru on the Ujire-Periyashanthi road in Dharmasthala on Saturday morning. The tree rolled over the 11 kv electric line between Dharmasthala and Shishila. Three electric poles were also damaged.
MESCOM authorities immediately rushed to the spot and took remedial measures. Wild elephants are often spotted in the area. It may be recalled here that an elephant had on an earlier occasion attacked a vehicle in the same area.
