Bengre residents stage huge protest against coastal berth under Sagarmala project

Mangaluru, April 05, 2021:      A huge protest was staged by  Bengre residents on April 5, Monday to  oppose the coastal berth and capital dredging  under the Sagarmala Project of the Union Government.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The protestors alleged that the government was trying to displace people of  Bengre through these projects and said even the demand for title deeds by Bengre residents have remained unfulfilled.

The construction of a 350 meter long coastal berth will hit hard the livelihood of many people , the protestors said  and pointed out that  a project in the vicinity would also adversely affect the children of a local government school.

The protestors demanded that the  projects be shifted to some other place.
