Mangalore, Jan 24: “If Lord Ram was threatened by Ravan during his times, today his devotees are being threatened by opponents,” said Prakash Sharma, National Convenor of Bhajrangdal.

Addressing a huge gathering at the Nehru Maidan in the city on Sunday evening, as part of the Hindu Yuva Samavesha to commemorate the silver jubilee of Bhajrangdal, Sharma said the organization was not just working towards building a Ram Bhoomi or Krishna Bhoomi but also to prevent religious attacks, religious conversions, terrorism and cattle slaughter.

In his fiery speech, Sharma by stating ‘Gaayi Nahi Katne Denge aur Desh Nahi Batne Denge’ (we will neither allow cow slaughter nor divide the nation), made a vehement appeal to the chief minister to enforce a ban on cow slaughter and earn the blessings of the Hindu population and the cattle which is revered by the Hindus.

Recollecting the hard efforts and struggle put in behind the establishment of the Bhajrangdal 25 years ago, he made it clear that the Bhajrangdal does not hurt or harass people of other religions.

Sharma also exhorted Bhajrangdal activists to set up Bhajrangdal branches in every part of the city.

Chakravarthi Sulibele, Vice President of Samskara Bharathi, who also addressed the gathering, said “If Hindus could today proudly say it openly that they are Hindus, then it is the achievement of the Bhajrangdal.”

He was also highly critical of the several governments that ruled the nation in the past for unduly appeasing the minorities by implementing special schemes for them.” “The people of the nation who believed in oneness are now a divided lot owing to the criminal ideas of the past governments,” he alleged.

He said that all the other religions of the country began with their founders; but Hinduism has neither beginning nor end; it is eternal and will continue even after other religions perish.

Sri Ramananda Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Kolya, in his benedictory speech emphasized the need to put a check on religious conversion and cattle slaughter.

Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Mutt, said issues like Love Jihad must disappear from the nation and added Hindu activists were ready for any amount of struggle to avert Love Jihad.

Prakash Sharma released the souvenir ‘Vajranga’, published under the guidance of PA Bhat, while Chakravarthi Sulibele released the book ‘Hindu’, authored by Avinash.
