Mangaluru, February 17, 2025: Bharathi H. Prabhu (Shevgoor) of Mangaluru has been awarded a Ph.D. in English by Srinivas University, Mangaluru, for her thesis titled “Urban Spaces as Third Space: An Exploration of Select City Novels by Anjum Hasan, Aravind Adiga, and T. S. Tirumurti.” Her research was guided by Dr. A. Lourdusamy, Research Professor of English, Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, Institute of Management and Commerce, Srinivas University.

She received the doctoral degree certificate from Dr. CA A. Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor of the university during the 7th Annual Convocation, held at the Mukka campus on Thursday, February 13, in the presence of Chief Guest Prof. Dr. P. L. Dharma, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, Dr. A. Srinivas Rao, Pro Chancellor and Smt. A. Vijayalakshmi R. Rao, Director, Srinivas Group of Colleges.

Bharathi is an alumnus of St. Ann’s School, Mangaluru, and a graduate of St. Agnes College. She completed her M.A. in English from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in 2004 and her M.Phil. from Alagappa University in 2009. She is married to Vishnudas Kamath Shevgoor from the illustrious Shevgoor family of artists in Mangaluru.

She began her career as an HR trainer, coaching students and professionals in leadership and employability skills. She later served as Professor and Vice-Principal at the College for Leadership and HRD, Mangaluru, and also taught in the Department of English at St. Aloysius College. Currently, she is the Editor at Tarjani Communications, Mangaluru, where she specializes in curating coffee table books, videos, and content for print and online media.
